Meeting: This is a joint meeting of the ASQ Baltimore Section and the Maryland Performance Excellence Foundation
(MPEF), during which this year’s Maryland Performance Excellence Awards will be presented. The
MPEA winner will share with us how utilizing the Baldrige criteria assisted them on their mission for
excellence. In addition, we will hear from Harry Hertz, the Director of the National Baldrige Performance
Excellence Program and Mike Perich, from Montgomery County Public Schools – one of the 2010 National
Baldrige Award Recipients.

First Presentation:  “Strategic Excellence”
Mike Perich, Montgomery County Public Schools.
The presentation will focus on the approach, deployment, learning, and integration including senior
leadership’s responsibility. Results will be shared for instruction and operations highlighting data used in
the application and focusing on data-driven decision making. In addition, the presenter will discuss the
importance of process management and improvement and how these concepts helped MCPS make
significant changes resulting in greater improvement in all areas across the district.
   

Second Presentation:  “Southern Management – We’re on a Mission”
Ron Frank – President and COO
Michele Ahluwalia – Strategic Planning Manager
Southern Management Corporation is the largest privately-owned property management company in the
Mid-Atlantic region. We are a customer-oriented, quality-driven company. We manage properties, but our
business is people. “At Southern, People Come First!” This presentation outlines Southern Management’s
mission for excellence.

From 695 South (Glen Burnie) take Exit 8. Make a right off the exit ramp, a right at the traffic light onto
Nursery Land, and a right at the traffic light onto N. Hammonds Ferry Rd. Snyder’s will be on your
immediate right just past the next traffic light.
From 695 North (Towson) take Exit 8. At the end of the exit ramp make a right onto N. Hammonds Ferry
Rd. Snyder’s will be immediately on your right.

Cost Advance registration is required for dinner. No charge without dinner. See RSVP below.
Cost $20 (members) / $30 (non-members) — Cash or checks written to ASQ Baltimore accepted. No
credit/debit cards accepted.
